Passive Voice (Two Verbs With Two Objects)

► Aktif cümlede iki tane nesne olduğnda, hem aktif hem de pasif cümleyi farklı şekillerde oluşturmak mümkündür. 

Sentence 1: The teacher gave the students the exam papers. (Öğretmen öğrencilere sınav kağıtlarını verdi.)
Sentence 2: The teacher gave the exam papers to the students. (Öğretmen sınav kağıtlarını öğrencilere verdi.)

 

Aşağıdaki cümlelerde iki tane object (nesne) vardır.

Object 1 = indirect object (dolaylı nesne) → the students

Object 2 = direct object (dolaysız nesne) → the exam papers

► Dolaylı nesne genellikle insandır, dolaysız nesne ise herhangi bir şeydir. Dolaylı nesnedan sonra dolaysız nesne gelmesi durumlarında, dolaysız nesnenin önüne to bağlacı konur. 

 

Active sentence 1

► Aktif cümledeki nesneler (exam papers ve öğrenciler) pasif cümlede özne olurlar.  

Passive sentence 1

Passive sentence 2

When there are two objects in an active sentence, there are two possible active sentences and two possible passive sentences.

Sentence 1: The teacher gave the students the exam papers.
Sentence 2: The teacher gave the exam papers to the students.

 

There are two objects in each of the following sentences:

Object 1 = indirect object → the students

Object 2 = direct object → the exam papers

An indirect object is very often a person, a direct object a thing. When a direct object is followed by an indirect one, we put to in front of the indirect object.

 

Active sentence 1

Each of the objects (exam papers/students) in the active sentences can become subject in the passive sentence.
